Hi!
Wondering about who I am and what I do? Let’s fill in that information for you. I want you to feel like you know me as you seek help with the struggles you are going through. So, here we go…
Mission
I strive to provide a professional, safe and comfortable environment where you can talk about your needs and communicate easily. It is my mission to help you grow and learn your full potential, find hope in the valleys of life, and explore the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life.
First of all, I am a husband and proud father of 2 awesome kids. I love my family. I desire to spend as much time with them as possible. They are and will always be at the center of my life along with my faith in Christ. Just like all people, I am human and have a deep desire for connection with others. Unfortunately, that also means I have had struggles with life just like you. Ups and downs have been common and I want you to know I care about your wins and your losses because I have felt them too.
Being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist doesn’t mean I haven’t lived or struggled. My wife and I have argued, just like you. I have been stressed by deadlines at work and the pressures of home, just like you. My son has pooped on the floor while potty training, possibly, just like your kids.
I too have dealt with many of the same problems you have dealt with, and still deal with. Helping people with these concerns is what I do. It’s not who I am though.
At the start of this “About Me” section, I let you know that I am JUST LIKE YOU. I understand when you are thinking each day, “I don’t know what to say,” or “I don’t understand my spouse.” Those words are my words, and I have said them many times before.
My marriage isn’t perfect. My life isn’t perfect. And, I am not perfect. You may be wondering why that matters. It matters because it lets you know I understand that pain is normal and I want you to see me as someone who has some answers due to my training as a counselor, but I am still human and relatable.
I don’t know EVERYTHING. However, I know that you are going through a lot. Yet, I hope that you will let me be a part of your journey so you can show me what it is like to be you.
I am glad you have taken the step to seek information about counseling and couples therapy. That’s why you are here, right? Or are you here to just find out more about me?
If that’s the case, here is more information about me:
I have been a counselor for over 12 years and have helped many couples, families, and individuals just like you reach their goals. YES! IT IS POSSIBLE!
My specialties are couples counseling, Premarital Counseling, Christian counseling, and sex therapy.
Helping families grow and thrive is what motivates me.
I help couples learn the skills that contribute to healthy communication and affection that will decrease negative experiences in their relationship.
HOW DO I DO THAT?
Through learning from you what your goals are, I help you plan out steps to reach those goals. We define clear, practical actions to reach those steps, together. Then, I work with you each week to make those actions habits.
As you build new, healthy habits that match the direction you want to move toward, you will eventually reach your goals! It’s that simple!
Other things you might want to know about me are:
I am experienced in working with depression, anxiety, OCD, men’s issues, parenting conflicts, anger, and adolescent behavioral and emotional difficulties.
My training and career work has been in a variety of settings: in an outpatient addiction facility, a prison, a non-profit counseling center for adolescents, and a private counseling facility, where I worked in homes and schools with families, children, couples, and individuals on a variety of issues.
I have built a lot of experience over the years doing a variety of counseling and education. One thing I am sure of is that I have arrived at my passion to heal marriages and relationships. I can do all those other things and will help you with those if you need help in those areas, but my main goal is to health strengthen relationships.
Do you want to know MORE about me?
Besides counseling, I enjoy spending time playing and watching sports. I enjoy watching college football. Listening to music is a relaxing, enjoyable activity that I do often. Sometimes, I will play a video game or watch a good movie. Traveling is also something I love. I try to enjoy living a full life! My favorite experience is being in a sports venue with lots of people cheering or being in church worshiping.
My OTHER passion is to see people living productive, joyful, and successful lives. I believe spirituality contributes heavily to having a full life. My belief in God and his love for his creation is what sustains me. We live in a world where sin exists, but hope exists too. However, I work from a position of love as Jesus loves. It is important to me that I don’t push my beliefs on you. It is my desire for you to find what is true, and I want you to see that hope exists!
I want to help you. Tell me your story. Let me walk with you through the story you are creating.
